I put a new sports trading system to the test today. One of the picks led me to trade pregame the odds of Hoffenheim that hosted a Bundesliga match against Hannover. The Betfair graph shows the odds’ decline from 2.00 to 1.75 before the game kicked off. Due to the breakout that happened in the morning, I backed Hoffenheim to win with the intention to lay at shorter odds. Indeed, I exited the trade [...]

My sports trading system used to be very profitable when I began trading the odds of horse racing markets in 2004 and remained so for 2 years. That seems a long time back, but I thought of publishing metrics of the system’s performance, since I nowadays keep reading about drawdown, profit factor and ROI figures of systems in stock, futures and forex trading. In my opinion, that would make a nice [...]

Making money in sport trading may be just as easy as following smart money. About €50,000 moved the betting odds of Espanyol versus Getafe yesterday morning and taking advantage of this information led me to complete a profitable trade. I traded Espanyol’s odds before kickoff and although €650 of my account were tied up for 6 hours, a secure win of €28 no matter the game’s result was a nice [...]

Applying technical analysis to the Betfair graph of Rafael Nadal to win the French Open 2011 during last week helped enter a trade when the odds retraced back to the support level at 2.40. Although the Spanish tennis player continued winning his matches, his odds resumed the uptrend reaching out again for the highest value at 3.50. The resistance level found there is a very good reason to trade out [...]

While trading the Betfair UK horse racing markets using BetAngel Pro, I recorded my trading moves to show how to win against other sports traders and make money with a €1,000 bankroll. Obviously we can’t win in every horse race, but if we stay disciplined and follow proper money management risking 1-2% of our capital, we should be safe trying out any trading system, until it is proven profitable. [...]

Sports trading in betting exchanges often implicates basic technical analysis of betting graphs. Lightning fast betting in live events though, makes applying technical analysis a difficult task that requires valuable time and effort. Trading in a live football or tennis game requires concentration and quick reactions, let alone betting in live horse racing markets where the betting graph won’t [...]

Betfair graphs show the odds movement of an event. If many bettors back a team or a competitor, the betting odds will shorten and we profit by trading the trend. What about the final result of the game? Can Betfair graphs really predict the final outcome of an event? I believe so and I have a couple of examples to prove that. My latest experience regarding predicting final results with the help of [...]

The first race of Formula 1 this season is Bahrain Grand Prix and Vettel will be starting from the pole position right in front of the two Ferrari’s. Formula 1 is a fascinating sport to be trading in Betfair for a change besides football or horse racing. Since each race consists of a 3-day event, there is plenty of time to trade the odds. At this time the odds pretty much reflect the qualification [...]

These first articles at Trading Graphs are like an introduction and it feels like reinventing the wheel! While I admit I am a newbie at stock trading and have just opened an account with Interactive Brokers, I have tons of experience in another form of online trading, called Betfair trading. Although the general term is sports trading, Betfair is the leading sports exchange and due to their popularity, [...]
